LinkedIn, a Social Network for Business Professionals
In a crowded market of social networks, LinkedIn is making significant changes towards becoming more competitive and more relevant.
“LinkedIn is an online network of more than 17 million experienced professionals from around the world, representing 150 industries. Your network consists of your connections, your connections’ connections, and the people they know, linking you to thousands of business professionals” (LinkedIn).
Some of the home page features include: company news, network updates, and customizable modules.
Network updates inform you when members of your network change jobs, ask business questions, recommend you as an expert or recommend your service.
The company news section displays updated information about your company and topics that other members are reading about.
One of the three customizable modules available is called “Answers”. This module allows you to subscribe to a particular category and subcategory of your choice. When questions in your category are submitted you can click on it to view answers other members have submitted.
When you are an expert in your industry, this kind of a social network is an excellent avenue for you to spread your knowledge, products and services. It can’t get much easier than receiving alerts when someone in your network is searching for your service?
